Northern Striders have arranged a 12 mile walk – taking an estimated five hours – this Sunday (7th March).
Starting from the town of Stocksbridge, the walk will pass along past Underbank Reservoir towards the village of Langsett before looping around Langsett Reservoir and up on to Midhope Moor (where there will be a stop to explore North America – ruins of a farm house that was used as target practice during the WWII).
After the sights of North America, the walk continues down towards Midhope Reservoir and then on to Broomhead and More Hall Reservoirs before passing through the villages of Ewden and Bolsterstone then back towards towards Stocksbridge.
The route is varied in terrain and, although hilly in places, “very much moderate”. The walk will cover fields, gravel paths, muddy tracks and roads.
Start time is 11 am at the Silver Fox public house (Manchester Rd, Stocksbridge)
