Special events to welcome the Year of the Tiger have been held in libraries across the city, including Upperthorpe.
At these sessions, children have been getting crafty making Chinese decorations and have listened to short stories about the 12 animals in the Chinese calendar.
In Upperthorpe library, Cllr Steve Ayris, Cabinet Adviser to the Leader joined children and parents from the Sheffield Star Mandarin School where they made lanterns and Chinese New Year cards, and enjoyed a special story time. Meanwhile their mums and dads browsed through a new collection of Chinese books and magazines.
One of the parents, Ms Nan said: “I love the new titles that the library has purchased and I will be telling my niece to come and borrow them.”
Cllr Steve Ayris, Cabinet Adviser to the Leader said: “Children right across Sheffield have been having fun in the city’s libraries bringing in the Year of the Tiger. This is just one example of the creative activities that we organise in libraries for children all year round.”
