A volunteer recruitment drive for people interested in resolving conflict between victims and wrongdoers is underway as Sheffield City Council seeks to train new members for its Community Justice Panel.
Community Justice Panels bring victims and wrongdoers together to resolve conflict and harm caused by anti-social behaviour and low-level crime. Panels are not designed to punish the wrongdoer but aim to make offenders face up to the impact of what they have done. Issues tacked include neighbour disputes, theft, criminal damage and assaults.
Interviews will take place in the week beginning Monday 8 February 2010. Successful candidates will be offered a place on the training, which has been confirmed from Tuesday 2 – Friday 5 March 2010 (inclusive) at The Burton Street Project, Hillsborough.
