Weather, melting snow and roads

As temperatures soar towards a high of 8°C by this coming Monday, the big thaw is on and most roads are getting back to normal.

There are no reports of weather issues adversely affecting traffic on most roads in the area today. However, Snake Pass remains closed both ways due to snow between Hurst Road and Ladybower Reservoir whilst Woodhead Pass is now “passable”.

Other issues to look out for are extra pot holes appearing on roads as ice melts and drains away. There are also warnings of floods due to melting snow.

A further cold snap is forecast for later next week – but the Met Office has a pretty poor record of forecasting, so keep your fingers crossed. 😎
