Northern General Hospital wards closed

Fifteen wards at the Northern General Hospital remain closed to new admissions because of an outbreak of norovirus winter vomiting bug.

According to NHS officials, the Northern still has patients displaying symptoms of the disease but all affected wards at the city’s Royal Hallamshire hospital have now reopened.

Anyone who has recently had diarrhoea, vomiting or flu-like symptoms is urged not to visit the city’s hospitals.
